Kyle "Reese" Cassal & Jason Vannice have dreamt of racing to Hawaii for many years. We had planned to participate in the 2020 Pacific Cup race aboard Jason's J/35 Altair. That iteration of the biannual race was canceled and we were quite heartbroken. As we sat around with too much time to peruse race boats for sale online we decided that it would make good sense to form a partnership on a boat for the next Pacific Cup in 2022. This is the story of buying the boat, preparing her and ourselves for offshore sailing, and by golly hopefully sailing to Hawaii in July of 2022!
