Pacific Cup upgrades Volume 1

Luckily the Sydney 38 is a boat designed for ocean sailing and therefore is quite easy to modify for a race like the Pacific Cup. That said our list of boat projects has been long and varied. Here are a few of the recent projects.

Disco Party. The incandescent lights were the biggest draw on the battery. We replaced them all with lights that can be white or red for night sailing.

Bow sprit. We modified an existing Sydney 38 sprit from Australia to be the same length as the spinnaker pole. We can use the sprit to fly asymmetrical spinnakers but mostly it is used for the tack line to transfer the asymmetrical spinnakers during gybes, keeping the tack away from the bow of the boat.

Hammock. We had some frenchman in Florida (ATN) make us the custom trampoline. It serves multiple purposes. Sails can dry on it, it provides above and below storage and it's quite comfortable to sleep on. This gives us a versatile V-birth that weights under five ponds and can be easily removed.
